CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, USA
Notes:
H. H. Richardson briefly employed a kid named Louis Sullivan. Eventually, Sullivan moved to the edge of the known world, Chicago Illinois.
A few years before, Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicked a kerosene lamp and burnt down the whole city (which had been a vacant swamp 40 years before). Mrs. O'Leary's cow created a prodigious demand for architects.
Sullivan found work building houses, shops, whatever he could. One of his early and largely forgettable projects was the small house where I grew up.
