What It Is
|
The decision process is a dynamic beast,
changing almost daily. Tailor your milestones
to your task. |

Reality checks are brief reviews of where
you are and what you are doing. Team leaders need to do this
before each meeting to ensure things are on track. Team members
and decisionmakers can do this to catch problems before they
get out of hand.
Most of the reality check can be done by phone
or e-mail with key, knowledgeable individuals. This quick
procedure can be used as an outline for oral reports and
updates. Use this between full blown take
stock analyses.

- With the decisionmakers
to see if they understand where the process is. Are
you proceeding on the right track?
- With all participants
to see if they are informed and have ample opportunities
to be involved. Are they being heard?
- With the community to see if the needs you are addressing
are still the needs that need to be met. Are you keeping
up with the changes?
- With the core team members
to see if they have the tools and data they need for
the analysis. Are there other avenues you need to explore?
Are desires in tune with the budget
?
